Patience is part of the process.
First, a retrospective: I am experiencing quite sore muscles from Monday’s training (run3) and also from Tuesday’s Pilates session. I honestly didn’t think I could still feel muscle aches like this (haha 😉).
Today, I completed the fourth session of my second marathon training plan, which was a 50-minute INTERVAL RUN tracked via the ADIDAS RUNNING app.
I overslept this morning. Despite my alarm clock doing its best, I still didn’t manage to get up on time. Although I felt a bit worn out, I was genuinely looking forward to the run. The yoga session the night before had helped me relax and stretch out well, which certainly made a difference.
Overall, I maintained a comfortable pace, but I must admit I ran faster than I should have, once again. I found myself in heart rate zone 4 when I should have been in zone 3, and even during the slower segments, I hovered in zone 3 instead of the intended zone 2.
I struggled quite a bit with maintaining a slower pace today, most likely because I got up late and felt a bit rushed. This sense of time pressure made it more challenging to slow down both mentally and physically.
I had 650 ml of water with me, which I finished during the run. I decided not to bring any food, which proved to be the perfect decision for this session.
“Slowing down is its own discipline, and occasionally the hardest part of training.“
