The Power of a 5 Km Run (Run#28)

Rediscovering the weight of 5 km.

Today I went (again) back to basics: a simple 5 km loop through the forest. It was a crisp autumn day, cold and windy, with the leaves already turning. The sun peeked through just enough to make it beautiful.

Running itself went fine, but I could still feel something like a mental block. It was noticeable but didn’t overwhelm me or ruin my joy; it reminded me that not every stride was effortless.

Before heading out, I thought,

“5 km, that’s minimal; simply a warm-up to find my rhythm.”

But once I was running, I realized again how powerful those 5 km can feel. They are their achievement, still demanding, still worthy of respect. It’s surprising how different they seem now, compared to the longer distances I’ve gotten used to.

Sometimes 5 km is more than “just 5 km.” It’s a reminder that every distance has its weight and its worth.
